Sometimes I reread notebooks from my past lives. The ones where I wrote down thoughts and everything that felt important at the time.
Today I stumbled on my notes about personal branding. I read:
“A personal brand isn’t the real you. It’s just the image you show the outside world.”
(And I read that from a recognized expert, no less.) I can’t believe I fell for it just a few years ago.
At least now I understand why, all those years, I barely wrote anything in public, never started a channel, mostly kept quiet.
I don’t want to be fake. Life is too short for that shit. And think of the extra cognitive load a setup like that runs on you — maintaining a separate outward image? No thanks. That’s not what I’ve been growing all this for.
And anyway — what could possibly be more interesting than being real?
